This experience includes establishing the Community Volunteering Unit and Westminster Student Enterprise Entity at the University of Westminster from inception. Richard was responsible for:

 

- Developing, managing and maintaining the strategies and policies of the projects

- Recruiting, managing and supervising staff and volunteers,

- Managing the budget, setting targets and project evaluation

- Maintaining good working relationships and partnerships with a wide range of external organisations.

- Developing registration and recruitment procedures, codes of conduct, equal opportunities policies, marketing plans and general administrative systems

- Delivering workshops, events, presentations, mentoring programmes and competitions

- Conducting educational research

 

Richard’s community sector experience includes working as the Deputy Manager of Crookesmoor Training Centre in Sheffield. In this role Richard was responsible for:

 

- Coordinating the marketing and promotion of the centre and delivering a programme of adult community training courses

- Deputising as manager of the centre and liaising with partner organisations

- Organising outreach events including community festivals and open days

- Conducting research into the training and employment needs of the local community including training, coordinating and supervising a community research team

 

Richard also has worked with Sheffield Hallam University, the Workers Educational Association (WEA), Young Enterprise London and Sheffield Community Recycling Action Programme
